HIV TESTING

Free HIV testing is available at the Azienda Sanitaria di Firenze (Lungarno di Santa Rosa, 13), a public polyclinic. The Arcigay Firenze also regularly organises quick tests. More information, check their website: https://www.arcigayfirenze.it/salute-e-prevenzione/.

To get the test at the Azienda Sanitaria:

MONKEYPOX VACCINATION

The vaccination campaign against Monkeypox (‘Vaiolo Delle Scimmie’ in Italian) started in August in Italy. The Health Ministry provides information on their website:

https://www.salute.gov.it/portale/malattieInfettive/dettaglioSchedeMalattieInfettive.jsp?lingua=italiano&id=254&area=Malattie%20infettive&menu=indiceAZ&tab=1

In Tuscany, the vaccination is organised by the hospital of Pisa, as well as in several other Tuscan cities. To get access to the vaccine and get an appointment, a “numero verde” hotline has been created: 800.55.60.60.

SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH

The LILA (Italian League for the Fight against AIDS) is a non-profit association with a base in Florence at Via delle Casine, 12/rosso.

You can book an appointment for rapid HIV and STD tests with them by calling at 055/2479013 or emailing info@lila.toscana.it

More information is available on their website: https://www.lila.toscana.it/test-rapido-per-hiv-hcv-e-sifilide-e-percorso-prep/

From the site -

'Every FIRST AND THIRD TUESDAY OF THE MONTH FROM 7.00 PM TO 8.30 PM at our office it is possible to carry out the RAPID TEST FOR HIV, HCV (Hepatitis C) and SYPHILIS and also get information on PrEP or referral to dedicated courses.

To book an appointment, simply follow this simple procedure: send an email to info@lila.toscana.it with the subject “QUICK TEST APPOINTMENT” indicating the day on which you want to take the test, or “INFOPREP” in case you want information on the route dedicated to pre-exposure prophylaxis. Since January 2020, thanks to the service launched with the contribution of Gilead's Community Award call, it is in fact possible to evaluate with the operators of the counseling team the opportunity to be sent to a PrEP program established with direct agreements with the Santa Hospital Maria Annunziata of the USL Tuscany Center. An operator will respond to the email with the appointment where you can come to our office to take the test or get information about PrEP.

The capillary rapid response test for HIV, HCV and SYPHILIS consists of taking a drop of blood from the tip of a finger. The blood will be placed immediately in a reagent and the result will be ready after 20 minutes. The test has a window period of 1 month (the time that must have passed since the unsafe relationship).'
